Denim Days Festival launches in New York City

New York City is about to celebrate the power of denim in the fashion industry. The city will become bluer than ever with the first-annual New York Denim Days Festival, where fashionistas and denim lovers will have the opportunity to be part of a unique shopping event. Those who are looking for a perfect jean, unique designs, stylish jackets and everything related to the magic behind this fabric will find it at the festival.

The two-day festival will take place from September 30th to October 1st at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea from 11 am to 6 pm. The event is designed to connect New Yorkers and denim consumers with the most important new denim designers and heritage brands while enjoying of seminars, music, food, and expos. They will find brands as the well-known 3X1, the Manhattan-based custom and bespoke jeans store in Soho. The store will be featuring signature items during the festival. Scott Morrison, its founder and designer, is very grateful for having this kind of event in the Big Apple. “I can’t think of a more beloved, democratic product in the world than a pair of blue jeans, and what better way to celebrate all things denim, than here in the greatest city in the world, New York, our hometown,” expressed Scott Morrison to the organizers. “Denim Days is a chance for everyone - literally everyone - to come together and celebrate, enjoy, and appreciate jeans and jeans-making in all its glory”, concluded Morrison.

Jean Shop will also be one of the more of 40 brands that signed on as exhibitors. The brand will be displaying unusual vintage jeans representing what makes New York a community of fashion. “Jean Shop and 3×1 represent what is great about the New York denim community,” said Andrew Olah, co-founder of New York Denim Days. “They care about quality, craft and the essence of denim authenticity. To have them join us as our first participants is more than satisfying. We can’t wait to see what cool thing they’ll do for Denim Days.”

On September 30th Amy Leventon, the author of “Denim Dudes”, and on October 1st, Piero Turk, author of “Details: A life With Denim”, will be signing their books inside the pavilion. The pavilion will have the infrastructure of a city organized by different sections named with streets or roads. In each of these, New Yorkers will find a variety of brands: Hudson Jeans, Brooklyn Denim, Wrangler, Blue in Green, among others.

There will be also a street festival on October 1st at West 18th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue. Here the visitors will find live entertainment, games, art, vintage shopping, music and even activities for the kids.

3 years ago Amsterdam Denim Days was launched in the Netherlands, a festival organized in collaboration with US trade fair Kingpin, and now New York City is happy to welcome it. “The energy and inspiration we all get from the successful and influential Amsterdam Denim Days is immense. We can’t wait to launch an all-American version for style-setting, indigo-devoted New Yorkers,” said Lucel Van Den Hoeven, founder of Amsterdam Denim Days.
