Kat Dahlia, Cuban American singer/songwriter, released her first album ‘My Garden’ last January 13rd. Her voice, style and lyrics are a powerful tool that had made of this album the perfect mixed between sounds, rhythms and emotions. It is an album with different musical influences, from Hip-hop to Latin music that shows her unique talent and style. Kat is becoming one of the most important artists in the industry and a big icon in the Latino culture.
Every song from ‘My Garden’ has a unique feeling and sound, it has a story behind it which makes you think about life experiences and what it means to be human being. ‘This album is inviting people into my garden, my world, every song has a different story, and a different meaning almost as a garden has different flowers and different emotions’.
One of my favorite songs is Tumbao, a beautiful homage to Celia Cruz, where you can see Kat’s Latina soul, a strong voice and a powerful lyric. Kat Dahlia is working on writing an album in Spanish that can be a combination of covers or original songs, and Tumbao is a perfect example of what we can expect from her.
Kat has great musical influences in her life and she will love to work with amazing musicians such as Concha Buika and Andrea Bocelli, which shows her versatility to try different sounds.
The production of this album has been a long journey for her but worth it. It is the perfect introduction to show who she is and her diversity. She worked hard to get here, and she wants to inspire the world by being herself: ‘Don’t be afraid to fail, just trust in yourself and whatever is you want to do, don’t ever let someone tell you: ‘you can’t do it’. You just have to fully believe in yourself and go for it.’
Kat Dahlia is the new revelation in 2015. We can’t wait to see her on tour.
