Remembering our films is remembering who we are
Film is a different way to tell stories, learn about our culture and grow with it. Remembering the stories of those movies that have been part of our cinematographic, it is to remember who we are and how we have transformed ourselves. The Colombian film festival brings this year a retrospective of those films that have made history in our country. Besides, there is going to be a tribute to Gustavo Angarita for his lifetime achievement. The retrospective is going to take place on March 20, 21 and 22 at 7:00 pm at the Colombian Consulate. Everyone is cordially welcome to be part of this moment. The selected films have marked our history.
On March 20th we will present The Strategy of the Snail by Sergio Cabrera, Colombian director and producer recognize internationally. The film is based on a true story. It is about a group of people who live in a large house and they are asked to move because the house is going to be restored. All of them have to look for ideas in order to stay in their house. One of the characters came out with a strategy where each of them are going to act contrary of their own personalities.
On March 21 will be present Time to Die directed by Jorge Ali Triana and written by the Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The protagonist of this film is Gustavo Angarita, who is being honor at the festival for his long film career. The film is about Juan Sáyago who came out of jail after 18 years for killing Raul Moscote. He dicides is time to recover his life, but in the process Juan has to decide whether is time to die or kill.
On March 24 the movie VISA USA by Lisandro Duque will be part of the retrospective. This movie is about a young man who wants to work in radio in the United States, and in his journey he falls in love facing with many obstacles because his girlfriend’s family does not accept him. For this reason, he decides to travel to Bogota to get a visa and follow his goals.
The Colombian Film festival will end this retrospective on March 29 at 11 pm at The Tribeca cinemas giving an award to Gustavo Angarita for his lifetime achievement. Gustavo Angarita is one of the best Colombian actors, who has done memorable roles such as Juan Sayago inTime to die and has a long film career. It is an honor for the Colombian Film festival give this recognition to an actor who has influence our industry.

El cine es una forma diferente de contar nuestras historias, conocer nuestra cultura y crecer con ella. Recordar las historias de aquellas películas que han hecho parte de nuestra cinematografía, es recordar quienes somos y como nos hemos transformado. El festival de cine Colombiano nos trae este año una retrospectiva de aquellas películas que han hecho historia; además, un homenaje a Gustavo Angarita por su trayectoria y por ser un icono del cine colombiano. La retrospectiva se llevara a cabo los días Marzo 20, 21 y 22 a las 7:00 pm en el consulado de Colombia y el público esta cordialmente invitado a ser parte de este momento. Las películas seleccionadas, son películas que han marcado historia en el cine Colombiano.
El jueves 20 de marzo se presentara la película La estrategia del caracol de Sergio Cabrera, director y productor Colombiano con gran reconocimiento internacional. La película es basada en un hecho real, y trata sobre un grupo de inquilinos que viven en una gran casa que va a ser restaurada y necesitan buscar ideas para no abandonarla. Es así, como uno de los personajes crea una estrategia donde cada uno de los inquilinos actúa de forma contraria a su personalidad.
El Viernes 21 de marzo se presentara la película Tiempo de morir dirigida por Jorge Ali Triana y escrita por el escritor Colombiano Gabriel García Márquez. El protagonista de esta película es Gustavo Angarita, quien está siendo homenaje en el festival por su trayectoria en el cine. La película trata sobre Juan Sayago, quien acaba de cumplir una condena de 18 años por haber matado a Raúl Moscote y decide recuperar el tiempo perdido. En el proceso tiene que decidir si es el tiempo de morir o de matar.
El lunes 24 de Marzo se presentara la película VISA USA de Lisandro Duque. Esta película trata de un hijo de un navicular que sueña con ser locutor en los Estados Unidos, y en búsqueda de sus sueños se enamora atravesando por muchos obstáculos debido a que la familia de la novia no lo acepta. Debido a esto el decidí viajar a Bogotá para obtener la visa y seguir sus objetivos.
Para terminar esta trayectoria de la historia de nuestro cine el festival de cine colombiano tiene el honor de presentar el Domingo 29 de Marzo el premio de toda una vida a Gustavo Angarita, uno de los mejores actores Colombianos quien ha realizado papeles memorables como el de Juan Sayago en tiempo de morir y tiene una gran trayectoria en el cine.
No se pierdan esta retrospectiva porque recordar nuestro cine es recordar nuestras historias.
